- Paço dos Cunhas de Santar

The village of Santar is a historical landmark in the Dão region. In order to preserve the historical roots of the wine, Dão Sul purchased Paço dos Cunhas do Santar, a XVII Century estate, which is composed by two manor houses with 100 year-difference.
Rehabilitation was done to Paço dos Cunhas de Santar making it a Charming destination, with a restaurant, shop and multi-functional space, where clients can enjoy a meal in a historic environment.
Paço de Santar was built by order of D Pedro da Cunha in 1609. A large ancient farmhouse has stood on this site for hundreds of years. Its sole purpose of being was to produce Olive oils, fruits and wine for the grand and prestigious Oporto markets. Today, Paço de Santar has 32 hectares of traditional Dão varieties and 5 hectares of olive trees. The white and red wine Vinha do Contador are made from two top grape varieties of the Dão region.
Opened in 2008 Paço dos Cunhas wine-tourism is striving to become a leading name in the Dão region. It has a restaurant open everyday, numerous rooms for all kinds of events and meetings (where you can have wine courses or tastings) and an excellent wine bar and shop. Not forgetting the fantastic garden and terrace that compliments the beautiful surrounding countryside. Combined with great wine and food this truly is a wine lover’s paradise.
The winery was awarded Winetourism of the Year 2008 by Revista de Vinhos, in Portugal.
