- Herdade Monte da Cal

In 2003, Dão Sul began to produce wines in Herdade Monte da Cal, in São Saturnino, Fronteira. But the Monte da Cal experience isn´t limited to wine production.
Located in Alto Alentejo between Estremoz and Portalegre, this winery conveys a distinct peace and tranquility associated with the beautiful countryside that surrounds it. The days here appear seemingly long and endless, as if time has stood still in this part of the world.
Herdade Monte da Cal has 45 hectares of vineyards and 20 hectares of olive trees (Aleluia Extra Virgin Olive Oil), combined with an innovative winery that has kept the architectural influences of an Arabic culture, a style and design that is steeped in Portugal’s history.
In 2007 the construction of a new winery began, pioneering a close working relationship between the producer and the consumer. The winery provides all the infrastructures to receive and take into hands wine events, from visits to tastings and courses, among others. Surrounded by the calm and peaceful landscapes of the north Alentejo region, the winery is an ideal place to relax, where each day goes by without haste and with all the time to enjoy the best that life has to offer.
It´s also possible to enjoy the regional food, with a sophisticated and innovative touch always paired with the wines produced in the estate. The Monte da Cal red and white wines are available to consumers from the Colheita to the Reserva as well as the single varietal wines made with Syrah, Trincadeira and Alicante Bouschet. In 2008, in association with Casa de Santar, Monte da Cal launched the Conde de Palma red wine, a title of José Luis Vasconcellos e Souza.
